Jack Grealish could "smash it again" at Aston Villa, believes Ricky Hatton.
Grealish has seen his time on the pitch with Manchester City dwindle significantly in the past two seasons as manager Pep Guardiola preferred other options in the midfield, and with Fabrizio Romano reporting on DAZN that the 29-year-old is not part of the Sky Blues' FIFA Club World Cup plans , it seems as though a move to another club is imminent.
Lifelong City supporter Hatton is also a fan of Grealish's, and the former two-weight boxing world champion thinks the player would be at his best again with his old club.
"I love Jack Grealish. I met him and his dad, and they are absolutely down-to-Earth people, and I would be sorry to see him leave but for whatever reason it has just not worked, and he hasn’t hit the ground running at City," Hatton told Betway .
"If he returns to Aston Villa, I think he could smash it again. I don’t know if it is Man City’s style of play which throws him a little bit. It would be a shame to see him go because he is a top lad and a gentleman but wherever he goes I wish him all the best. I think he went from what he was good at by taking players on and smashing the ball from 20 or 25 yards in the top of the net and passing people off the ball to playing for us and playing this keep game. It took away his best attributes."
