The Toffees walked away from St. James' Park with a point.

Everton gained a valuable point on Tuesday as they earned a late 1-1 draw at Newcastle United.

The Toffees found themselves in a hole early thanks to Alexander Isak's 15th-minute goal for the hosts, but Dominic Calvert-Lewin converted a penalty in the 88th minute to salvage the draw, ending a three-match losing streak for the club as they look to stave off relegation.

Manager Sean Dyche's first full season in charge at Everton has been full of pitfalls as a points deduction was placed upon the club, and poor results have seen the side winless since mid-December.

Despite this, Dyche was quick to praise his side for not giving up after going down in the first half on Tuesday, and he hopes the result will provide a boost as the 16th place Toffees aim to end the campaign above the relegation zone.

"This job wasn't a walk in the park when I got it and it is still not, there is a long way to go but there are a lot of steps we are making in the right direction," Dyche told BBC Match of the Day.

"I know we are capable of getting wins and results, we haven't scored as many as we would like but the mentality is right and certainly right tonight."
