A familiar face could be back in WWE sooner rather than later after Malakai Black's name was removed from AEW's official roster page.

Black was written off of TV by AEW a number of weeks ago, and his former faction has been renamed Hounds of Hell after being previously known as House of Black, signaling the end of his association with the company.

In a further update, PWInsider have reported that the Dutch Superstar's contract expired on February 9 and is now free to move to another promotion.

Known as Aleister Black in WWE, he was released in June 2021 after a five-year stint with the company. During which time he held the NXT Championship before a main roster run saw him embroiled with feuds with Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens.

Rumours had begun to circulate around a WWE return following Chad Gable's desire to search for an ally to take on WWE's Luchadores, citing he needed some 'Dark Arts', which is the name of Black's gym he owns with wife Thea Trinidad - better known as WWE Superstar Zelina Vega.

That speculation will now only grow further following Black's departure from AEW.
