John Cena is one of WWE’s legendary performers. After becoming the face of the company in 2005, Cena’s impressive run at the top of the wrestling business has seen him figure in multiple memorable matches against a wide range of foes from CM Punk to The Rock.
After first becoming world champion at Wrestlemania 21, the Wrestlemania that went Hollywood, Cena has gone onto create many great moments at the showcase of the immortals before pursuing a career in the location that first gave him his crowning moment.
Despite now spending a lot of his time on film sets, Cena is still temped by his first love. A recent appearance on Smackdown has prompted rumours of competing in his first Wrestlemania match since 2020, but will we see Cena in California for Wrestlemania 39?
This is still not confirmed. Numerous outlets, like most years, have discussed the possibility of Cena appearing at Wrestlemania, but confirmation is still some way off. Cena’s recent appearance on the December 30th, 2022, episode of Smackdown bodes well for future appearances, but we still don’t know whether that will be at Wrestlemania.
Cena appeared at Wrestlemania 36, which took place right at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Cena’s battle against The Fiend was a Firefly Fun House affair that saw Bray Wyatt take Cena on a journey through his lengthy career. The match was well received for his originality and innovativeness, and it helped being played out in front of no audience.
One name who is desperate to face Cena is Logan Paul. The popular YouTuber took to his podcast to challenge John Cena and after impressing in a recent effort against Roman Reigns, Paul is more than qualified to challenge Cena.
Another name linked to Cena is Austin Theory. The personal project of Vince McMahon has seen his stock rise in WWE and on the January 9th, 2023, episode of Raw, the United States champion started his promo by declaring ‘The Champ is here.’ Is this the platform for a meaningful contest with Cena on WWE’s grandest stage?
