Al Ahly will seek to spring an upset as the nominal outsiders in their group when the Egyptian Premier League heavyweights head out to the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
El Shayateen El Homr are one of the most decorated clubs in African club football history, and will have high hopes of spreading their name to an international audience.
That will mean coming through a group that includes home favourites, tournament veterans and other dark horse contenders if they hope to progress however.
But just how did they seal their berth for the revamped Club World Cup, set to take place across the United States between June and July this year? DAZN has all the information.
Al Ahly are one of four CAF teams competing in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup and qualify as winners of the 2020–21, 2022–23, and 2023–24 CAF Champions League.
As triple victors during the qualification period - only Wydad AC has also won in the interim - they enter as favourites among African supporters to progress onwards.
Al Ahly have been drawn into Group A, alongside Inter Miami (United States), Palmeiras (Brazil) and Porto (Portugal).
In order to reach the knockout stages, they must first successfully navigate this opening stage where the top two teams from each group will qualify.

The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup will begin on Saturday, June 14 when Inter Miami takes on Al Ahly FC at Hard Rock Stadium with the final scheduled for Sunday, July 13 at MetLife Stadium.
In total 32 teams will be competing at the Club World Cup with all international federations represented.
Inter Miami have also been give a place at the tournament as a result of the United States being the hosts.
