Andre Ward enjoyed a successful career, but who does the American star consider the biggest puncher he ever shared a ring with?

Retired since 2017, Ward teased a comeback earlier this year when he made comments about a potential heavyweight fight with Anthony Joshua

Nothing has emerged from that talk, and it now appears that Ward will remain outside the ropes in his role as an analyst.

At his peak, Ward was arguably boxing’s best fighter and his Olympic gold at the 2004 Olympics was the platform for him to push on and have a successful pro career.

A world champion at super-middleweight and light-heavyweight, Ward took on some of boxing’s biggest names and he did not taste defeat once.

Beating huge names like Carl Froch, Chad Dawson, and Sergey Kovalev, Ward was often in huge fights, and he ended his career eight years ago after defeating Kovalev for a second time.

Ward was dropped by the heavy-handed first European in their first encounter where many thought Kovalev had done enough, but he does not credit the former 175lbs ruler as the hardest puncher he faced.

“The hardest puncher was definitely Edison Miranda – no doubt about that,” said Ward when speaking to Boxing News last year.

Ward outclassed Miranda in 2009 on points to take his record to 19-0.
