Arnold Barboza is ready to convince people he is the real deal when he faces Jack Catterall this weekend in Manchester

The American star, undefeated in 30 fights, faces perhaps the toughest test of his career when he takes on the Chorley man, but he has no issue being the underdog.

The fight, live on DAZN, will see Barboza aim to prove he is worthy of a world title shot with Catterall also holding similar ideas

Last year, Barboza’s elite credentials were put under serious scrutiny when he was very fortunate to take a decision against Sean McComb.

Barboza responded well at the backend of 2024 as he produced the best performance of his career when he defeated former unified world champion, Jose Ramirez, in Saudi Arabia.

Despite never tasting defeat as a professional and collecting several high-profile wins, Barboza is still waiting for the credit he thinks he deserves and that could finally arrive if he defeats Catterall.

"I feel like my whole career I've been the underdog. Even when I'm the favorite, I feel like I've been overlooked my whole career. People are finally starting to see who Barboza really is. Come February 15, my hand will be raised,” said Barboza when speaking to The Ring

"I'm an overall better fighter than him,” said Barboza. “He calls me a B-level fighter but the only thing special about him is that he's lefty. That's it. We'll find out.

"He can say Ramirez is past his best and I can say the same thing about the last three victories he just had. Linares retired after their fight, Regis was going to retire after their fight. Josh Taylor had a messed-up knee. He can say all he wants, I don't think he's ever faced anyone like me.”
