Brewed in more than two-and-a-half years of vitriol, Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn will finally have their explosive clash.
They will headline The Ring’s Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves main card at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on Saturday, April 26, and live on DAZN Pay-Per-View.
Their fathers fought more than 30 years ago when Chris Eubank Sr. produced a ninth-round TKO of Nigel Benn in November 1980 before the two fought to a split draw nearly 13 years later.
Now, it’s up to Eubank Jr and Benn to reignite this family rivalry.
With their feud well past personal and stakes riding high, DAZN News analyzes who has the edge across key categories heading into their bout.
Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Conor Benn pits the methodical, surgical boxer in Eubank, who relies on his sweet science skills, against the fighting pressure of Benn.
Eubank relies on spacing, often lowering his guard to create offense, with a solid power jab and the ability to counterpunch effectively, too.
Benn, on the other hand, enjoys changing levels to close the space between he and his opponent and throw them into his pressure cooker.
If Eubank can assert his jab early to keep Benn’s forward fighting at bay, while controlling the pace, he might very well own the edge in styles.
With age comes wisdom, and at 35 years old to Benn’s 28, Eubank counts 14 more fights of experience than his rival.
That could give Eubank the ring IQ edge as a skilled sweet scientist over Benn’s scrappy style.
Or Benn’s bullish style could keep him undefeated.
Until the latter is proven, Eubank gets the nod here.
Eubank actually touts the higher knockout percentage, but Benn might have more pop to his punch.
The one-two combination that Benn launched to crumple Chris Algieri inside four rounds back in December 2021 is a prime example of how nightmarish “The Destroyer” can be when it comes to power shots.
If he can pressure Eubank effectively and fire away with his power punches, especially if Eubank is caught lowering his guard, Benn has a chance to put an explosive exclamation point on this rivalry.
Not to mention, an abrupt end.
Eubank slapping and breaking an egg on the face of Benn left the latter seething and practically foaming at the mouth in rage, needing several guards to hold him back.
Some might say that was — and is — Eubank residing rent-free in Benn’s head.
Or it might have given Benn the mental thrust needed to destroy Eubank on Saturday night.
One thing is for certain, though, if Benn shows ruthless aggression without composure, Eubank has the boxing skills to carve him up with pointed accuracy.
He gets the slight edge here.
Across four major categories, Eubank gets the 3-1 edge over Benn heading into their fight.
As the younger, more aggressive pressure fighter, Benn can change this with a punch.
But it is up to an older, wiser Eubank to not let that happen en route to a big win.
