Hamzah Sheeraz is set to make his super middleweight debut on July 12 when he takes on former Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez foe Edgar Berlanga.
According to The Ring's Mike Coppinger, Sheeraz's clash with Berlanga will be on the same card as the previously rumoured Shakur Stevenson-William Zepeda WBC lightweight title fight.
Sheeraz (21-0-1, 17 KOs) last fought on the undercard of the undisputed light heavyweight title rematch between Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev, where he challenged WBC middleweight champion Carlos Adames. Sheeraz's first world title shot ended in a split decision draw following a close 12-round battle.
Berlanga (23-1, 18 KOs) meanwhile kicked off his 2025 in the best possible way with a first round knockout win over Johnathan Gonzalez-Ortiz in March.
The upcoming fight between Sheeraz and Berlanga is set to be a WBC super middleweight title eliminator, meaning the winner will be in a position to face current champion Canelo Alvarez who bids for a second undisputed title on May 3 against William Scull live on DAZN PPV.
In addition to Sheeraz-Berlanga, WBC super lightweight champion Alberto Puello (24-0, 10 KOs) will face Subriel Matias (22-2, 22KOs) while David Morrell (11-1, 9 KOs) goes head-to-head with Imam Khataev (10-0, 9 KOs) on the same card which is reportedly taking place in New York City.
