Shabaz Masoud and Peter McGrail locked horns on Saturday for the European super bantamweight title in Monte Carlo, live on DAZN.
McGrail came out the aggressor in the opening three rounds and looked to be on his way to a rout. Then, Masoud woke up and dominated the remainder of the fight to win by the gold by unanimous decision (116-11, 115-112, 114-113). DAZN News had the fight scored 115-112 for Masoud.
The fight was all about who got off first. When it was McGrail, he won the rounds. When it was Masoud, he won the rounds. For the majority of the fight that belonged to Masoud (17-2, 4 KOs), who has now reeled off 15 wins in a row.
Also on the card, in a stunner, Elif Nur Tahan stopped Beatriz Ferreira in the fifth round to capture the IBF lightweight title, and Johnny Fisher got back on the winning track, knocking out late replacement Ivan Balaz in the fifth round.
