After months of buildup, the 2025 NFL season kicked off in a major way during Week 1.
With the dust now settled, here’s a look at the top storylines, key matchups, and the full schedule for Week 2.
The game of the week will be in the second slate of games on Sunday as the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles travel to Kansas City to meet the team they bested in Super Bowl LIX, the Chiefs. Seven months ago, the Eagles dominated the Chiefs by a score of 40-22 to capture their second Lombardi Trophy.
The Eagles started their championship defense with a 24-20 win on Thursday night over the NFC East rival, the Dallas Cowboys. On the other hand, the Chiefs came up on the short end of the stick on Friday evening in Brazil, losing to the Chargers 27-21.
It's not often a Week 2 game is a must-win. But it is in this instance for the Chiefs. Losing the first two games of the season puts them on a tough track in what has become a loaded AFC.
Rodgers was in MVP form on Sunday, going 22 of 30 for 244 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Pittsburgh Steelers to beat his old team, the New York Jets, 34-32. Now, Rodgers looks for a repeat performance in Week 2 as the Steelers host the Seahawks, who lost 17-13 at home to the George Kittle-less San Francisco 49ers.
The 41-year-old looked rejuvenated and ready to show the NFL that last season with the Jets was a mirage. He proved it in Week 1. Expect Rodgers to be just as amped up playing in front of what should be a raucous Pittsburgh crowd on Sunday afternoon.
Every game in Week 2 is must-watch football, but two stand out above all the rest.
A Super Bowl LIX rematch highlights the Week 2 games. The Eagles look to do to the Chiefs like they did in February, while the Chiefs look to avoid a 0-2 start.
This is the Ben Johnson bowl as the new Bears head coach returns to his old stomping grounds, where he was the offensive coordinator for three seasons. Both teams are coming off bad performances in Week 1. The Lions looked out of sync without Johnson running the helm on offense in a 27-13 defeat to the Packers. And the Bears blew a 17-6 fourth-quarter lead to lose 27-24 to the Vikings on Monday Night Football. It is a must win for both teams as they don't want to start the 2025 campaign 0-2.
