Fans of Japanese MMA star Kyoji Horiguchi had quite a suprise when the RIZIN flyweight champion announced he had vacated the title and will be re-signing with the UFC. The announcement came after weeks of speculation.
“I’m going to the UFC,” Horiguchi said. “I’m going to become the first Japanese UFC champion.”
Horiguchi hasn't fought under the UFC since November 2016. Since his departure, the star secured titles in RIZIN and Bellator after failing his bid at Demetrious Johnson in the UFC. He's on a six-fight win streak heading back into the big show.
It's unclear when his UFC debut will be or who he might be fighting.
