Gyokeres' first for Arsenal, a shocking Man City giveaway and a maiden strike at Hill Dickinson Stadium: The top goals from Premier League Matchweek 2

Another eventful Premier League weekend has passed, with several goals scored.

Some goals are bigger than others though, and these are the five that had an outsized influence on games played between Friday, Aug. 22 and Sunday, Aug. 24.

Viktor Gyokeres - Arsenal vs Leeds United

Gyokeres joined the Gunners this summer amid high expectations thanks to his glittering goal scoring record in Portugal and Arsenal's years-long desperation for a reliable striker.

The Swede didn't get the start he wanted last week as he was ineffective in Arsenal's season-opening victory over Manchester United, but he made up for it in his home debut as he struck twice in the Gunners' 5-0 hammering of Leeds United.

Both strikes were clinical, but it was his first goal of the match that showed his true potential for the Gunners.

Joao Palhinha - Manchester City vs Tottenham

Manchester City have had little success against Tottenham when the teams meet at the Etihad over the past few years, and this week's match was no different as Spurs claimed all three points from their latest visit to the blue half of Manchester.

The North Londoners' second goal was a shining example of City's hapless ways against Spurs, with a comical giveaway by goalkeeper James Trafford inside his own penalty area leading to chaos and, eventually, a successful strike by Joao Palhinha.

It was the sixth goal City conceded to Spurs in the past two meetings between these teams at the Etihad and the nature of the play — with bodies in Sky Blue strewn about desperately trying to make up for a fatal mistake — encapsulated the bizarre hold Spurs have over Pep Guardiola's men on their home ground.

Enzo Fernandez - West Ham United vs. Chelsea

After a frustrating first match, Chelsea were dominant as they travelled to West Ham this weekend and scored five times. It was just the performance they needed after being held scoreless a week previous, and it's all the more impressive given that Cole Palmer was pulled from the starting XI just moments before kick-off.

Starting in Palmer's place was 18-year-old Estevao, who offically joined the Blues this month from Palmeiras. The teen came to England with all the hype you'd expect from a Brazilian attacking prodigy, and he showed glimpses of his potential on Saturday against West Ham.

Set up on the right side of the attack but with the freedom to drift inside as desired, Estevao took little time to integrate with his more experienced teammates, and he earned his first Premier League assist just after the half-hour mark with a driving run into the box followed by a perfect low cross that left Enzo Fernandez in a prime position for an easy goal.

The strike may belong to Fernandez, but it marked the beginning of the Estevao era at Chelsea. Let's see where the youngster goes from here.

Jaidon Anthony - Burnley vs Sunderland

If someone told you before the weekend that one of the nicest goals of Matchweek 2 would come from the fixture featuring two promoted teams, you'd likely be skeptical.

But Jaidon Anthony's late strike to seal Burnley's 2-0 victory over Sunderland had all the elements of a highlight-reel goal: Good interplay between teammates, an exceptional long ball to set the forward free and a powerful run by Anthony from the centre circle before he deftly rounded the goalkeeper and deposited the ball into the wide-open net.

Sometimes goals don't need a bigger meaning to make an impact. This is one of those goals.

Iliman Ndiaye - Everton vs Brighton

Speaking of goals that have a bigger meaning, Iliman Ndiaye's opening strike for Everton on Sunday wasn't one that will be remembered for the build-up or any moments of individual brilliance.

Yes, Jack Grealish's move into the Brighton box and his subsequent inch-perfect cross to Ndiaye was indicative of what the Man City loanee can do for the Toffees this season, but the real reason the 23rd-minute strike will be remembered by Everton fans is because it was the first goal at the spectacular new Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The state-of-the-art venue represents a new era for a club often overshadowed by their more successful neighbours, and Ndiaye christened the ground with an emphatic finish from in close.

Perhaps it was fate for the 25-year-old, who also scored the last two goals at Goodison Park.
