Location

The seventh-largest city in South Korea, Ulsan is located in the south-east portion of the country, between Busan and Gyeongju.

The Ulsan Munsu Football Stadium, built in 2001 ahead of the following year’s FIFA World Cup, is the home ground of Ulsan HD and holds 37,897 fans.

Origin

Founded in 1983 as Hyundai Horang-i, the club played six seasons in Incheon, which is on the opposite end of the country to where it is based now.

For the 1990 season, the club moved to Ulsan to be closer to the headquarters of owner HD Hyundai Heavy Industries.

Ulsan HD won silverware rather quickly, with a 1986 Korean League Cup the first of many trophies for the club.

Ulsan HD are one of four AFC teams competing in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup and qualify as the best-ranked eligible team in the four-year ranking.

This marks their third time at the tournament after 2012 and 2020, but on both occasions, they failed to impress, and fell short of reaching the last four.
