Who gets into the best XI of the Champions League league phase?

The Champions League brings the curtain down on its league phase this week with the final round of matches across an action-packed Wednesday night of action.

So far, only two teams have confirmed their place in the knockout phase in Arsenal and Bayern Munich, so we're in for a roller-coaster of an evening as each side tussles for those final automatic spots.

The opening phase has already thrown up so incredible moments and performances from the stellar names involved, but which players have done enough to be included in DAZN News' team of the round?

David Raya (Arsenal)

The Gunners stopper may not have been as busy as some of his peers in the competition so far, but keepers live on clean sheets, and Raya's record has been almost imperious in the Champions League.

Across Arsenal's seven straight wins, Raya has had shutouts in five of them, as he and his defence have conceded just two goals in what has been a pretty flawless European campaign from the North London backline.

William Pacho (PSG)

Continuing his growing reputation as one of Europe's best defenders, Pacho has hardly put a foot wrong in PSG's defence of their European crown.

The Frenchman has played every minute of the competition so far - the only PSG player to do so - proving what an important cog he is in Luis Enrique's team, and he's managed to get himself on the scoresheet twice as well.

Cristhian Mosquera (Arsenal)

With such a well-established centre-back pairing as Arsenal, it's always tricky for the other defenders to get their moment in the sun, but since slotting in as cover during this season's Champions League games, few would have noticed the difference, given Mosquera's performances.

The Spanish defender has played in five of the seven games in a Gunners team that has failed to beat so far, including standout showings against Serie A league leaders Inter and runaway Bundesliga juggernauts Bayern.

Alex Grimaldo (Bayer Leverkusen)

Bayer Leverkusen may have had a mixed bag of it so far in the competition, but the fact that they still have a play-off place to play for is partly down to Grimaldo.

The defender has played in every game for the Germans, assisted one goal and netted three times himself, as well as leading the club's backline. His memorable opener at The Etihad led to a surprising win over Manchester City, while the point earned thanks to his late goal against Newcastle could make all the difference.

Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool)

Liverpool's disjointed season hasn't affected their Champions League campaign too much, where Van Dijk has led the Reds to the brink of automatic qualification.

The Anfield skipper set the early tone with a memorable last-gasp winner at Athletico, and put in a massive performance at the San Siro, where Liverpool shut out Inter.

Dominik Szoboszlai (Liverpool)

Perhaps one of the most effective players in the Champions League this season, where the Hungarian hasn't missed a single minute so far in the Reds' 2025-26 campaign.

Across those seven games, Sozboszlai has contributed four goals - including the winner at the San Siro - three assists and a man-of-the-match display last time out at Marseille.

Michael Olise (Bayern Munich)

The Bayern machine has been rolling through Europe as well as the Bundesliga, and Olise has been one of the main drivers in attack across the league phase.

No one has contributed more assists than the Frenchman's four in the seven games so far, and he was also on the scoresheet in the 5-1 thrashing of Pafos.

Declan Rice (Arsenal)

Carried his top-class Premier League performances into Europe and been one of the competition's outstanding midfielders.

He's racked up two assists across six appearances and put in a notable display in the Gunners' top-of-the-table win against Bayern Munich, as he and Martin Zubumendi won the midfield battle.

Kylian Mbappe (Real Madrid)

The Champions League's standout player so far, who has already cruised to double figures with 11 goals in just six matches.

His hat-trick against Kairat in November saw him hit 60 Champions League goals to surpass Thomas Müller and become the sixth-highest goalscorer in the competition. While his FOUR goals away at Olympicos saw him complete the second-fastest hat-trick in the history of the Champions League.

Harry Kane (Bayern Munich)

Seven games, seven goals. Harry Kane is just doing what Harry Kane does and doing it better than anyone else.

Kane's goals have come as part of a treble of braces across the league phase, including last week's double against Union SG, where he helped secure Bayern's path to automatic qualification to the knockout round.

Anthony Gordon (Newcastle)

Gordon may not have scored a Premier League goal from open play in over a year, but the England attacker is having no such issues in the Champions League.

So much so, his tally in 2025-26 has seen him take a record from club legend Alan Shearer. Gordon's six goals and two assists mean he now holds a club record for most goal contributions in Europe's premier competition.
