Already a dynasty, the defending back-to-back champion Kansas City Chiefs will look to become the first team in NFL history to three-peat as Super Bowl champs.

Standing in their way will be the high-octane Philadelphia Eagles powered by Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley.

The Chiefs meet the Eagles in Super Bowl LIX tonight at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.

With the stakes ultra high, DAZN News analyzes which team has the edge going into Super Bowl LIX across five key categories.

Patrick Mahomes vs. Philadelphia Eagles' defense and Jalen Hurts vs. Kansas City Chiefs' defense

Both Mahomes and Hurts have the ability to take off on their feet and regularly extend plays — a situational occurrence that usually yields positive gains for both teams.

If there is a push between the two star quarterbacks, it is that Mahomes has the experience advantage. Tonight marks his fifth Super Bowl appearance as he is 3-1 in the big game — with three Super Bowl MVPs to his name — and knocking on the door of NFL history by trying to win his third straight championship.

Edge: Mahomes

Saquon Barkley vs. Chiefs' run defense and Kareem Hunt vs. Eagles’ run defense

Hunt is a reliable, solid running back who is capable of carrying the rushing load.

But there is no overlooking the magical season that Barkley has produced. Simply put: he is having one of the best rushing seasons in NFL history and is coming off an NFC Championship Game that had him rushing for three more TDs in another electric performance .

He has the edge here.

Chiefs' receivers vs. Eagles' secondary and Eagles' wide receivers vs. Chiefs' secondary

Mahomes has receivers like future Hall of Famer Travis Kelce and speedy rookie wideout Xavier Worthy at his disposal. Not to mention, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Hollywood Brown and DeAndre Hopkins round out his receiving corps for a formidable group.

Not to be outdone, Hurts has possession receivers and downfield threats such as AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith that he can look to.

But there is something special about the growing chemistry between Mahomes and Worthy who is literally the fastest man in the NFL with a 4.21-second 40-yard dash time.

In the AFC Championship Game, Mahomes found Worthy for six catches on seven targets for 85 yards and a touchdown in which the blazing-quick rookie burned his defender in man-to-man coverage and dove into the end zone.

That could be a taste of things to come for the Eagles’ secondary in Super Bowl LIX.

Chiefs' special teams/kicking vs. Eagles' special teams/kicking

Chiefs’ kicker Harrison Butker already has a Super Bowl-winning field goal under his belt as his 27-yard field goal with eight seconds left lifted the Chiefs to a 38-35 win over the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII in February 2023.

Butker has been perfect in field goals and extra point attempts this postseason and could have a say in Super Bowl LIX as well.

Jake Elliott has converted six of seven field goals for the Eagles but experience is a factor here as well, with the edge going to Butker.

Andy Reid vs. Nick Sirianni

Super Bowl LIX tonight marks Reid’s sixth overall Super Bowl as head coach. He currently touts a 3-2 record in the big games, having won all three Super Bowls with Mahomes and the Chiefs.

Sirianni has led the Eagles to the postseason in all four years at the helm of the team and tonight, he gets his second crack at trying to out-coach Reid and lead the Eagles to victory.

Until he can get over that hump, though, the advantage is with Reid and his 25-plus years on NFL sidelines.

So who has the edge going into Super Bowl LIX? It’s the Chiefs, 4-1, until proven otherwise. It's just hard to pick against the back-to-back defending champs who are on the brink of history.
