For most NFL teams, a stuttering offense and a 6-11 record may result in wholesale coaching changes. Not the Kansas City Chiefs. Not in terms of playcalling duties, anyway.

The Chiefs welcomed the return of offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy after a three-year hiatus, but the offense will still run through Big Red.

"I still enjoy calling plays," Andy Reid said on Monday, before adding, "I'm going to fix the problem."

Read on for more comments from Reid and an update on the possible return of future Hall of Fame tight end Travis Kelce.

While Reid's comments above indicate he'll remain in control of the offense, he also shared how he's open to collaboration.

"I’m not afraid to delegate and get opinions from people, and then even in certain situations, letting them go ahead and call things in different areas."

The three-time Super Bowl-winning coach also discussed how he and his coaching team need to focus on improvements in multiple phases.

"I think we've got to do a better job all the way around in every area. I think that's important.

"You go through, and you hammer this thing out, you take every offensive play, every defensive play (and) every special teams play, you go through it."

Ring 6 - Lopez vs Stevenson PPV

Clearly, quarterback Patrick Mahomes will be central to the Chiefs' plans, and assuming the 30-year-old is recovered from his torn ACL for Week 1, there's every reason to believe the Chiefs can make their dismal 2025 an afterthought.

It would also help matters if Mahomes had one of his favourite targets back in the fray. To that point, recent indications suggest legendary tight end Travis Kelce may be leaning toward returning, rather than retiring.

Less than a week after Kelce's comments, Chiefs GM Clark Hunt appeared on NFL Network show Good Morning Football, stating that the Chiefs "certainly hope" Kelce will play in 2026, before adding "there's no doubt in my mind that he can still play."

There are still a lot of moving parts, but if Kelce returned and Mahomes gets healthy, would anyone put it past a Reid-Bieniemy-Mahomes-Kelce combination dialling back the clock and perhaps making noise in the 2026 NFL playoffs?

Perhaps the Chiefs' dynasty isn't over just yet.
