The NFL has adjusted the Week 16 schedule, moving the showdown between the New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens into the Sunday night prime-time window. That contest will now kick off at 1:20am GMT.
In a corresponding move, the league has brought forward the game between the Cincinnati Bengals and Miami Dolphins to the much more highly contested 6pm slot on Sunday, December 21.
UK-based Patriots and Ravens supporters who value sleep may not be fans of the change, but it makes sense for neutrals. New England (11-2) are the top team in our latest power rankings, while Baltimore (6-7) are still fighting hard for the right to claim the AFC North title.
The Patriots will clinch the AFC East in Week 15 if they take care of business in Buffalo. Win or lose, they'll go into the Ravens game still competing with the Broncos for the No.1 AFC seed.
Baltimore's playoff chances decreased significantly after their loss to the Steelers last weekend. But if they beat the Bengals on Sunday, those odds climb back toward the mid-40% range, depending on the outcome of the Pittsburgh-Miami clash this coming Monday.
Cincinnati (4-9) and Miami (6-7) aren’t totally out of the playoff race, but their postseason odds are so slim that the league felt comfortable moving them out of the spotlight.
