Sean McDermott has been fired by the Buffalo Bills after nine seasons in charge.
The 51-year-old had led the Bills to six consecutive divisional rounds, along with five AFC East titles in a row from 2020 to 2024.
He leaves Buffalo with an impressive 98-50 record in the regular season, winning eight playoff games on top of that, and making it to two AFC Conference finals.
The Bills had seen playoff heartbreak too many times to count and now following a 33-30 overtime loss at the first-seeded Denver Broncos, General Manager Brandon Beane has decided that he's seen enough.
Beane will lead the search for the Bills next Head Coach, however, with John Harbaugh already now signed with the New York Giants and Kevin Stefanski signing with the Atlanta Falcons yesterday, the list of top free agent head coaches is dwindling very quickly.
This move may not be what the players wanted at least as Jordan Phillips, defensive line-man for the Bills, has come out and posted a story on Instagram saying "This s—t here is so stupid honestly sickening. The best coach I've ever been around."
The Bills will now look forward to next season with the hoping to finally make it all the way to the Superbowl, however, with a different coach at the wheel.
DAZN's latest Game Pass deal gives you every game, right through to the Super Bowl, for only £14.99.
The offer drops ahead of the Conference Championships, as the Denver Broncos host the New England Patriots in the AFC title game, and the Los Angeles Rams visit the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC.
In addition to every game, live or on demand, Game Pass also provides access to RedZone, NFL Network, and DAZN’s weekly original shows, including Downs 2 Business, Kittle Things, and X's & O's coaching breakdown.
