NHL Games To Watch For The Week Of January 19

The 2025-26 NHL season is approaching a three-week break due to the Winter Olympics, but you can still watch the action all season long with NHL.TV on DAZN (excl. the US and Canada). 

Now, as we enter 2026, there are some intriguing games on the docket.

Winnipeg Jets @ Chicago Blackhawks: Monday, January 19/Tuesday, January 20 (8:30pm ET/1:30am GMT/3:30am CEST)

While this matchup isn't the best game, it is by far the most emotional with Blackhawks legend Jonathan Toews returning to Chicago for the first time. During his 13-year career with the Blackhawks, Toews had 883 points (372 goals, 511 assists) in 1,067 career games with the Blackhawks. Toews was the captain who led the team to Stanley Cup titles in 2010, 2013, and 2015.

Now, he comes as a visitor after two years away from hockey. So far in 47 games, Toews has 18 points (seven goals, 11 assists). But Toews looks to have gotten into a groove with nine points (four goals, five assists) in his last 12 games. 

Pittsburgh Penguins @ Edmonton Oilers: Thursday, January 22/Friday, January 23 (9pm ET/2am GMT/4am CEST)

Connor McDavid vs. Sidney Crosby? That's enough right there. McDavid has been sensational all year long in leading the NHL with 82 points (30 goals, 52 assists) in 47 games and had notched at least one point in a 20-game streak that ended on Wednesday. In that span, McDavid amassed 46 points (19 goals, 27 assists). And Crosby is still near the top of his game with 49 points (24 goals, 25 assists) in 45 games. 

Washington Capitals @ Edmonton Oilers: Saturday, January 24/Sunday, January 25 (10pm ET/3am GMT/5am CEST) 

Another high-profile showdown for McDavid. This time it's with the all-time goal leader in Alex Ovechkin. Savor these matchups because they won't last forever.
