Anthony Joshua? Wrestlemania? What's next for Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk?
With Tyson Fury’s undisputed clash with Oleksandr Usyk seemingly off, what direction will both men head in next?
Here, DAZN looks at the options for both men.
Could Francis Ngannou’s boxing debut come against the WBC world champion? Fury is known for hogging the limelight in other sports such as professional wrestling, but could he survive against a cage fighter? Under boxing or MMA rules, Fury vs. Ngannou is big business and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the two going at it.
Wrestlemania is almost upon us and that’s the time of the year when WWE brings out the big names. It’s probably too late to see Fury make an appearance there but with Money in the Bank coming from London this year, that gives WWE’s creative minds enough time to weave Fury into their storylines.
Deontay Wilder 4
The biggest heavyweight boxing rivalry of the modern era could be set for another chapter. Deontay Wilder is highly ranked with the WBC, and it doesn’t look like his much-discussed fight against Andy Ruiz is any closer. Could we see Wilder take advantage of his ranking and share the ring with Fury for a fourth time?
With Usyk holding three of the four major world titles, several mandatory options exist. Daniel Dubois is the WBA regular champion and he’ll be pushing hard to secure a crack at the unbeaten Ukrainian. Dubois is promoted by Frank Warren and that could go a long way to eventually securing a Usyk vs. Fury fight with the Hall of Fame promoter also representing Fury.
The IBF mandatory challenger, Filip Hrgovic should be ready for the Usyk battle if a deal can be quickly arranged. The Croatian fighter struggled to get past Zhilei Zhang last year and may want to cash in his world title shot before disaster strikes at a lower level.
Anthony Joshua 3
Will Usyk return to England for a third fight with Anthony Joshua? The Brit is currently getting ready to face Jermaine Franklin following two fights with Usyk, but could ambition make him believe he can finally beat his nemesis? This fight looks a long shot at the moment, but if Joshua wants to win a world title in 2023, it could be Usyk he has to go through.
