Arslanbek Makhmudov issues three word message to Dave Allen in Sheffield face off

Fight week is underway in the Steel City with Dave Allen and Arslanbek Makhmudov facing off for the first time ahead of their imminent showdown.

The pair's heavyweight contest will headline Sheffield's Utilita Arena Saturday, live on DAZN, in what feels like a make or break contest for their respective careers. 

Since the fight was announced in August, a face off in front of Sheffield's Town Hall on Tuesday was the time the fighters had the chance to size each other up.

Any tension was soon diffused by Allen who greeted his opponent who then gave a menacing three-word message to begin the mind games. 

"Saturday, work day!"

Both men then engaged in a humorous conversation with Allen then asking Makhmudov what languages he spoke.

All these pleasantries will be thrown out the window come Saturday as Allen looks to continue his career revival after knocking out Johnny Fisher in emphatic fashion in May. 

Meanwhile, Makhmudov is on a mission to get his heavyweight career back on track after suffering a second professional loss to Guido Vianello last year.

He did bounce back from this defeat with a win over Ricardo Brown in June, but taking on Allen in front of his home crowd will prove whether Makhmudov still has what it takes to remain a legitimate contender in the heavyweight division.
