There are reports that Devin Haney and Teofimo Lopez have signed to fight on August 16 in Saudi Arabia.
The fight will have no hardware on the line and is reported to be at a catchweight of 145 lbs, according to BoxingScene
Both men last appeared on the same card at Times Square on May 2, when Lopez outpointed the unbeaten WBO interim title holder Arnold Barboza Jr., and Haney beat the former unified super lightweight champion José Ramírez in a fight criticised for its lack of action.
Haney was originally scheduled to have a rematch with Ryan Garcia after their controversial no-contest last year, dependent on the pair winning their bouts in New York. But Garcia suffered an upset defeat to Rolando Romero, and the fight went up in smoke.
Devin’s father, Bill Haney, called out Lopez on May 16, saying that his son was the lucrative fight that the lineal super lightweight champion had been asking for.
Haney said to BoxingScene: “I thought you [were] looking for the big money fight? That’s what you complained about your whole career – that you weren’t able to earn the right… But now there’s nowhere else to run and no place else to hide.”

This came after rumours were circulating that Lopez would move up to welterweight and face the unified champion Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis.
Lopez seems to believe that it was Haney who needed this fight, as his big-money fight with Garcia has fallen through.
He told FightHype: “Haney got no other option but to ask for Teofimo, so we will see what happens now, we are ready for anybody.”
The pair of two-weight world champions fighting will be the second fight between what Ryan Garcia called ‘The four horsemen’ of boxing, which includes himself, Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis, Haney and Lopez.
The first fight between any of the quartet came in 2023 when ‘KingRy’ was knocked out by ‘Tank’ in Las Vegas.
Davis is also scheduled to fight on August 16, facing Lamont Roach in a rematch of their highly debated draw in March.
Haney vs Lopez is yet to be announced by the Saudi boxing boss, Turki Alalshikh.
