Former undisputed champion Devin Haney returns to the ring for the first time in a year as part of a Times Square triple bill on May 2, live only on DAZN Pay-Per-View .

The American faces off with onetime unified super lightweight king Jose Ramirez as part of a spectacular night of action held in the heart of historic Midtown Manhattan.

For Haney, this will be his first fight since losing to Ryan Garcia in April 2024, a contest which has since been ruled a no contest.

The former undisputed lightweight champion will be eager to shake off some ring rust after 13 months of inactivity as he looks to restablish himself as a major star. 

Ramirez on the other hand fought twice last year with one win and one loss.

His loss came in November when Arnold Barboza Jr beat the former unified super lightweight champion by unanimous decision Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

What has been said?

Speaking at the Grand Arrivals ahead of their blockbuster clash, Haney promised he would bring an "improved" version of himself after his time away from the ring.

"I love to bring fireworks," he said. "I look to show the world a new and improved, better Devin Haney than before. I had to go back to the drawing board and focus."

Ramirez meanwhile will be leaping up the divisions to contest the welterweight battle, and admits that he is relishing the opportunity to test himself at a new level.

"I owe it to myself to move up to a bigger weight class," he added. "It's four pounds. It's definitely going to do wonders for me on the night. We're ready."
