Conor Benn's promoter Eddie Hearn is hoping he can seal a deal for his fighter to face Ryan Garcia in what he called "the biggest fight in boxing".
Benn ended 2025 on a high when he comprehensively beat Chris Eubank Jr. in their rematch at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last November.
While that fight was contested at middleweight, Benn is planning to move down to welterweight and make a charge for the WBC's world title.
That means he is looking to face the winner of Mario Barrios' clash with Ryan Garcia, which is rumoured for February.
If Garcia-Benn is to become a reality, the former must first deliver against Barrios.
Garcia fought just once in 2025, losing to Rolando Romero in Times Square, and it was a performance which received plenty of criticism. However, despite this defeat, Garcia has seemingly landed himself a world title shot.
Benn and Garcia have in the past expressed an interest in facing each other, and if Garcia beats Barrios, then Hearn believes it is a contest which could either take over Las Vegas or sell out a stadium in the UK.
"Ryan Garcia against Conor Benn, arguably the biggest fight in boxing. We would take 15,000 to Las Vegas for that fight. Conor would sell out a stadium," Hearn told Matchroom Boxing.
"Ryan’s a huge name, he’s got to beat Barrios first, I believe he will. That’s a monster fight, but we’ve got to worry about Conor Benn, and Conor Benn only."
There may be serious interest in a Garcia-Benn fight, but Hearn wants to his fighter to keep active before his first world title challenge.
"He’s not going to want to wait until July, August to fight, we need to fight May, June at the absolute latest if we’re guaranteed that fight. If not, we’ll go earlier."
Hearn is doing his job perfectly by hyping a fight between Garcia and Benn, but calling it "the biggest fight in boxing", that's a stretch.
There are a number of bigger fights to be made, Inoue-Nakatani, a Bivol-Beterbiev trilogy and Inoue-'Bam' Rodriguez are a few which instantly come to mind. However, Garcia and Benn do have the ability to bring this particular contest to the forefront of the boxing and sporting world.
Garcia's huge social media following will immediately bring eyeballs to the bout, and the outspoken American is the perfect dance partner for Benn outside the ring.
The pair will no doubt go at it during various media engagements with Benn already getting a taste of an intense build-up following his two meetings with Eubank Jr. Then it will all come down to what transpires in the ring, whether it be in the States or the UK.
So right now, Garcia vs. Benn is not the biggest fight in boxing, but if the two welterweights can throw themselves into the promotion, then it will come very close.
