Eddie Hearn backed Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez’s desire for a rematch with Dmitry Bivol after his win over John Ryder on Saturday night.
The Mexican fought for the first time in more than a decade in his home country, taking care of his WBO mandatory challenger with a unanimous and wide points decision victory.
The undisputed super middleweight champion ended 2022 by defeating Gennadiy Golovkin, but his last Cinco de Mayo weekend fight was a defeat to Bivol for the WBA light heavyweight strap.
Bivol announced himself as a fighter of real pedigree with that fight and there is a desire from the fighter that his next clash is an undisputed event of his own, against unified champion Artur Beterbiev.
But Canelo, recovered from hand surgery and with back-to-back wins on his resume, said after the fight he wants to face Bivol once more.
Speaking after the fight, Hearn was keen to run it back.
“Unbelievable atmosphere in Guadalajara, great performance from Canelo, tough, tough, tough man, John Ryder,” he said on DAZN.
“Hurt badly, broken nose in the second round but battled hard every round but tonight belongs to Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.
“Dmitry Bivol, that’s what he wants next, let’s make it happen.”
