A significant fight has been added to the Vergil Ortiz vs. Erickson Lubin card on Nov. 8, which can be seen live on DAZN.

Golden Boy Promotions announced that top lightweight contender Floyd Schofield Jr. (19-0, 13 KOs) will battle former junior lightweight champion JoJo Diaz (34-8-1, 15 KOs) from the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

Schofield is coming off a career-best performance at the end of June, knocking out another former junior lightweight champion, Tevin Farmer, in the first round on the Jake Paul vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. main card opener. Now, a golden opportunity awaits "Kid Austin" as he inches closer to his first world title opportunity.

“I want to thank Golden Boy, Davies Entertainment and DAZN for the opportunity to come back on a card in my home state,” Schofield said in a statement released by Golden Boy. “This fight with JoJo Diaz has been brewing for many years, and I’m excited to get into the ring and repeat what I did when I faced Tevin Farmer. I am ready, and I am putting in the work to show the world that I am ready to be world champion.”

Diaz last fought at the beginning of August, losing a narrow decision to former junior welterweight champion Regis Prograis, in one of the best action fights of 2025. Back at 135 pounds, Diaz is ready to show the world that he's still a force to be reckoned with.

“Every challenge is an opportunity, and stepping into the ring against Kid Austin is no different,”  Diaz said in a statement also released by Golden Boy. “I’m thankful to God for allowing me to do what I love. I’m ready to leave it all in the ring and showcase the hard work I’ve put in. Texas, get ready for a fight that electrifies!”
