Is Frank Warren shocked by Joseph Parker's incredible career resurgence ahead of massive Fabio Wardley fight?

Frank Warren will be an invested spectator on Saturday night when two fighters from his incredible heavyweight stable collide in a terrific encounter. 

Joseph Parker and Fabio Wardley have impressed in recent years, and they meet this weekend , live on DAZN PPV , with the winner almost certain to face Oleksandr Usyk in 2026 for undisputed glory. 

Three years ago, Joe Joyce, who was being guided by Warren towards a world title shot of his own, produced arguably the finest performance of his career as he battered Parker to become the only man to stop the popular New Zealander . 

That result was intended to be a platform for Joyce to push on towards fights with the likes of Usyk and Tyson Fury, but numerous setbacks against Zhilei Zhang and Derek Chisora have seen Joyce take an alarming drop in the rankings. 

In the same timeframe, Parker has demonstrated an admirable resistance since the Joyce loss, and he has rebuilt brilliantly. Under the guidance of Andy Lee it has led to wins over the likes of Zhang and Deontay Wilder.   

One more win this Saturday night against Wardley, one of the division's biggest punchers, could be the most significant for Parker with a world title shot looming on the horizon. 

Warren, who cannot hide his excitement for this clash, is expecting drama this weekend, and he has also admitted that he has been slightly shocked by Parker’s career turnaround. 

“I am surprised, but he’s pushed himself and he’s dedicated himself,” said Warren when speaking exclusively to DAZN News . 

“Him and Andy Lee have bonded, and they work together really well. He’s had some good wins since [the Joyce fight] and he’s the interim champion.  

“Him and Fabio is really intriguing and good quality fight. Fabio believes he wins this fight and so does Joe. We’re going to get a fight where I think the styles blend and we get an unbelievable performance from both of them. 

“We’re going to see what Joseph is all about because he’s going to be in there with someone who has a lot of desire and who wants to get a crack at the title.”
