George Liddard believes he transformed his fortunes to world-level status in 2025, suggesting he is the "frontrunner" among Britain's rising stars.
The middleweight star dethroned Kieron Conway in October to become the new British and Commonwealth middleweight champion at just twenty-three.
Unbeaten across thirteen professional fights, Liddard is expected to make further domestic defences across the first half of 2026 against other rivals.
Success there could further push him into international consideration, but the star already feels he has scaled that particular challenge on his own terms.
"I'm not really a prospect [anymore]," Liddard told The Ring on his form. "I've turned myself from a prospect to probably a world-level contender overnight.
"So I think there's definitely the argument, in terms of being a prospect in the world stage, that now I probably am the frontrunner in British boxing.
"You've got other big names like Moses Itauma and Giorgio Visioli but I feel like after that big standout win, it's definitely put me at the front of the pack."
New year, same belief. There's little doubt that George Liddard is sincere in his self-confidence that he is one of the domestic scene's leading star men.
Moses Itauma surely would have something to say about that, with his profile going from strength to strength, and with his next test already booked too.
But hardcore fight fans may find truth in Liddard's words, after a sparkling year that earned him the biggest straps below world level and plenty of kudos.
His stoppage triumph against Kieron Conway was a fitting tribute to his grit and craft thus far. He has conquered Britain - and now, he wants the world.
A fairly open middleweight division sits between him and the summit. Pick his fights smartly, and Liddard could find a path towards his latest Everest.
