Is Anthony Joshua ready for Deontay Wilder after Robert Helenius win? David Haye gives his verdict

Is Anthony Joshua ready for Deontay Wilder after Robert Helenius win? David Haye gives his verdictDAZN
David Haye discussed what is next for Anthony Joshua.

Former world heavyweight champion David Haye believes Anthony Joshua needs another tune-up fight before facing former WBC world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.

Joshua got his second win of 2023 on Saturday night after knocking out Robert Helenius with a thumping right hand in the seventh round of their contest at London's O2 Arena.

It's expected that a fight with Wilder is next for the former Olympic gold medalist early next year, but after a performance where Joshua was reluctant to throw any meaningful shots early on, Haye wants to see the 33-year-old continue to perfect his gameplan before a potential meeting with 'The Bronze Bomber'.

"I would like to see him fight someone of the calibre of Robert Helenius," Haye told Beyond the Bell

"Go out there and treat him like it’s Wilder because you can’t stand off Wilder, jabbing, keeping your hands up close. He’ll just go straight through him."
