Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul are just two weeks away from meeting in one of the most fascinating fights of 2025.
The pair caused a shock last month when they announced they will be fighting on December 19 just weeks after Paul’s fight with Gervonta Davis was cancelled.
For that contest, Paul was preparing to face a small fighter with explosive power, but now he will be making a huge leap to heavyweight to take on a former world champion who has defeated some big names including Wladimir Klitschko and Dillian Whyte.
Moving into 2026, Joshua is hopeful he can land a major fight against the likes of Tyson Fury and Daniel Dubois, but first he must take on Paul, and he begins the fight a huge favourite.
Joshua has more to lose than Paul due to his experience in the sport at the highest level and defeat to the novice fighter could mean the end of his career.
Katie Taylor, who dealt with Paul on several occasions during her rivalry with Amanda Serrano, has delivered her verdict on how the fight may play out.
“This is a risky fight for both, but I would be surprised if Jake Paul didn’t get knocked out,” said Taylor when speaking to Fight Hub TV .
“Joshua is a huge puncher and a genuine heavyweight. If he gets caught with a shot it’s terrible for boxing, terrible for Joshua.
“But I have to give respect to Jake Paul for taking the fight. I think it’s insane that this is happening, but I don’t have any problem with it happening, ’cause it brings more eyes on boxing.”
