Khalil Coe delivered on his promise of "a hundred percent" as he claimed revenge over Manuel Gallegos to secure victory in their rematch down in Mexico on Friday night.
The Big Steppa suffered a first career loss with a shock ninth-round defeat in his last bout in November, but returned to winning ways on this first foray into the ring since.
Coe headed south of the border in pursuit of a comeback performance and duly delivered with an imperious turn, effecting a sixth-round TKO triumph to get back on top.
Speaking afterwards in the ring, the rising star spoke about his struggles before his previous bout, citing them as the difference between then and now with his victory.
"The last fight, I was dealing with a lot of body [and] internal problems," he said afterwards. "I was hospitalized twice before my last fight. That pretty much made the difference.
"This camp, no problems all the way. [It is] a hundred percent Coe, and you all see what happened. Watch your mouth when you speak on me. That’s all I’m going to say."
Coe was seen as a fast-rising star of the light heavyweight decision and will now hope to continue his ascent through the ranks with another major bout before the year is out.
A succession of early jabs laid the platform for his success, and the fighter will hope this disciplined performance can further improve as he grows to a 10-1-1 record.
