There is no doubt Teofimo Lopez is levels above Arnold Barboza.
Lopez literally danced against Barboza, doing what he wanted in the ring and when he wanted to, cruising to a dominant unanimous decision victory against Barboza at The Ring’s Fatal Fury: Times Square on Friday night. Judges scored it 116-112, 116-112 and 118-110 in Lopez' favor as he successfully defended his WBO and The Ring super lightweight world titles.
After pitching the boxing masterclass, Lopez shifted his sights to another young boxing star in unified welterweight world champion Jaron 'Boots' Ennis.
"I'm Dora the Explorer and I'm looking for 'Boots,'" Lopez, ever the showman and entertainer, told DAZN in the ring.
"The Takeover" had his way with Barboza for 12 rounds Friday night and he did it behind superior hand speed, first depositing shots to the body before turning them into body-head combinations.
Later, he made them head-body combinations, dancing against Barboza and doing whatever he pleased.
Barboza did not take chances against Lopez' speed and power and it showed with the lopsided decision. DAZN News had it 119-109 in Lopez' favor only giving Haney one round.
