As we enter the festive period once again, we look back twelve months to a Christmas cracker from 2024.
Just over a year ago, Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury staged the second of their two epic contests in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and they delivered another classic for the fans.
Having dropped a split decision in an eventful first encounter 7 months earlier, Fury was gunning for revenge in the rematch, and he was desperate to atone for the first loss of his career.
Dressed in a Santa Claus-inspired red and white robe, ‘The Gypsy King’ entered the arena to a Christmas classic in Maria Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ and he danced his way to the ring.
Usyk’s entrance was less festive as he arrived in a serious mood, and the pair got straight down to business as soon as the first bell went.
Another nip-and-tuck affair ensued, and, with so much on the line, you couldn’t take your eyes off this gripping affair, with both men having their fair share of success.
Once again, it went the distance, and as the fans waited in suspense for the scorecards, all three judges gave it to Usyk by 116-112 as the Ukrainian picked up a famous unanimous decision.

Fury hasn’t fought since, but all the rumours suggest he will make his return in 2026 and that he is being lined up to finally face domestic rival Anthony Joshua next year.
Usyk fought just once in 2025 when he stopped Daniel Dubois in 5 rounds at a packed Wembley Stadium in July, and we are waiting to see what his next move will be.
