Golden Boy chairman and CEO Oscar De La Hoya announced the fight, saying: “It has been Golden Boy’s home in the Coachella Valley, and we are excited to bring a DAZN fight night that they will enjoy for the first time in 2022.”
Gesta's last fight was more than two years ago when he fought in November 2019 against Carlos Morales, drawing that match-up in Los Angeles.
Diaz meanwhile fought in August 2021 in Tijuana, when he beat Francisco Gabriel Pina via knockout.
