Nottingham Forest fell 2-0 at Newcastle United on Sunday, extending their winless streak to nine games across all competitions.

Ange Postecoglou isn't giving up, though.

Forest did not experience a new manager bounce after Postecoglou's hiring early last month, with the struggling club immediately losing by three goals to Arsenal in the 60-year-old's first match in charge on Sept. 13.

Things did not improve from there, as Forest have recorded zero wins, five losses and two draws since Postecoglou took the reins from Nuno Espirito Santo. Sunday's result was a deserved one for Newcastle, with the Magpies generating 18 shots and placing nine of them on target as they cruised to a relatively easy victory at St. James' Park.

For Postecoglou, Forest's latest setback was due to his side not taking advantage of the few chances they did have while also not being able to match their hosts when the Magpies turned up the pressure in the second half.

"It is always tough coming here with the crowd behind them and the atmosphere but I felt we handled it well," Postecoglou told Sky Sports.

"We didn't capitalise on the opportunities we needed to take and then a couple of things went against us and you don't get the outcome you want.

"They raised the tempo in the second half. I thought we controlled the game well in the first half but we had a couple of really good moments when we had to take our chances."

As for the team's outlook after his first seven games in charge, Postecoglou was steadfast in his belief that Forest will eventually turn things around.

"We have gone through this period where it is three-and-a-half weeks since I've come in and things haven't gone the way we'd have loved but it doesn't deter me," he said. "We have a couple of weeks of work with some of the lads in the international break. We will turn the fortunes around.

"It is a struggle, it is a fight there is nothing wrong with that. I could have been sat on the couch watching you guys but I prefer to be here right in the middle of it, where I can have an effect and I believe I will."
