'Anthing but a win is a disaster' former Spurs ace sends warning to Thomas Frank ahead of crunch clash

The managerial merry-go-round has already been in full flow in 2026, and this Premier League weekend will see two new gaffers take charge of their first league games. 

Having overseen two cup displays, Liam Rosenior will make his league bow when his Chelsea side hosts rivals Brentford, while Michael Carrick begins life as Man United boss with the little matter of a Manchester derby. 

However, it's doubtful they'll be the last new faces we see in dugouts this campaign, and this weekend sees the meeting of two gaffers, who look likeliest to be next given their P45. 

Tottenham vs West Ham is being built as 'El Sackico' with both Thomas Frank and Nuno Espirito Santo feeling like they are both on the brink of the boot if the result doesn't go their way on Saturday. 

Frank's arrival in North London was supposed to herald in a fresh start and a new philosophy for Spurs, but things haven't worked out that way for both club and manager. 

The Danes' defensive style hasn't gone down well with supporters, and the club's home record is the worst outside the bottom three, leaving Frank in a precarious position ahead of the London derby. 

Speaking exclusively to DAZN News, thanks to SeatPick, the leading aggregator for reliable resale tickets online, former Spurs midfielder Gus Poyet senses there's something wrong at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and thinks the clash with the Hammers could be do or die for the manager. 

He said, "Looking at this situation now, it is taking too long to get a string of good results and if you don’t win, then players will doubt the manager. It creates instability, which you can see is happening now at Spurs.

"For Thomas Frank, as a coach, he needs to find a way to win a game. This game on Saturday is a must-win. Anything else is a disaster.

"Pick your best team and win the game. Be more adventurous in your selection and go and look to attack West Ham.

"This isn’t Brentford now, it's Spurs and with it comes more pressure and it’s mounting.

"So, be brave and go and win the game against West Ham and give fans something to cheer.

"Looking at how much pressure Thomas Frank is under, he is under big pressure. He has to get his message across clearly so players can understand and then find a way to win."

One ray of light for Spurs could be the signing of Conor Gallagher, who arrived from Atletico Madrid this week in a deal worth £35 million. 

The former Chelsea player moves back to the Premier League with one eye on a World Cup place this summer, and Poyet believes he could be just the character that his old side needs right now. 

"He's unbelievable, top signing for Spurs," Poyet added. 

He gives everything on the pitch, takes responsibility and this is what Spurs need right now. He is so passionate on the pitch, gives 100% every game and gives so much energy when he plays.

"This signing could really help Spurs, and his way of playing can also spur others onto his level.

"He covers every blade of grass, tackles, wins duels, and also can attack well and create and score.
