The NFL announced the salary cap for the 2024 season on Friday, and it's a big increase from the just-completed campaign.

A cap of $255.4 milllion per club has been imposed for the upcoming season, an increase of more than $30 million over the 2023 season. Additionally, each club will receive $74 million for player benefits, which a league statement says "includes Performance Based Pay and benefits for retired players."

In total, player costs will be a staggering $10.5 billion league-wide in 2024 ($329.4 million per club).

The league's statement explained that this year's increase "is the result of the full repayment of all amounts advanced by the clubs and deferred by the players during the Covid pandemic as well as an extraordinary increase in media revenue for the 2024 season."
