The low-scoring affair was indicative of both teams' struggles this season.

However, a second-half touchdown from the Chicago Bears gave them the lead for good as they held on to defeat the Carolina Panthers, 16-13, on Thursday Night Football from Soldier Field in the Windy City.

After trailing 10-9 at the half, the Bears pieced together a nine-play, 38-yard drive, which was punctuated by D'Onta Foreman pinballing his way to a four-yard touchdown rush in the third quarter.

Foreman finished with 21 carries for 80 yards and that TD as the Bears never looked back from that 16-10 lead.

While the Panthers were able to tack on a field goal in the fourth quarter to pull within 16-13, they wouldn't get any closer. Rookie quarterback Bryce Young, the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, authored a late drive and even converted two 4th downs during it. However, the Panthers missed a 59-yard field goal on their third 4th down of the drive and that ended the 15-play jaunt.

With the win, the Bears improve to 3-7 on the season, though mired in the basement of the NFC North. The Panthers fall to 1-8 — tied with the Arizona Cardinals for the worst record in the NFL this season.
