The fists were flying on Saturday night as BKFC 82 took place from the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J, live on DAZN PPV. The main event determined the King of Violence champion as "Platinum" Mike Perry ended a year-plus layoff from bare-knuckle action when he faced off with Jeremy Stephens.
They didn't disappoint as Perry came back from a rough start to drop Stephens five times to win by TKO at the 1:35 mark of the fifth round to remain the King of Violence champion.
"I'd like to take this chance to apologize to absolutely nobody," Perry said in his post-fight interview as he paid homage to BKFC co-owner and former UFC double champion Conor McGregor.
In the first round, Stephens landed hard right hands after hard right hands. But Perry lived up to his "Platinum" moniker by walking through every single shot. While his face was bloody and swollen, Perry was just getting warmed up.
By round three, Perry had gotten into a rhythm. He was walking through Stephens' shots and just continued to come forward, applied constant pressure, and found a home with his lethal left hand to finally send Stephens to the canvas at the end of the third round.
Perry nearly closed the show in the fourth as he dropped Stephens twice. Both times, Stephens made it up at the count of eight. However, each time Stephens got up, you could see the wind coming out of him.
Early in the fifth, Perry dropped Stephens again. Stephens had looked to have told referee Gary Copeland that he was done. But Stephens got up anyway. That proved to be a mistake as Perry landed another right and left, and after that, Copeland waved it off.
After Perry did his interview, McGregor talked about how impressed he was with Perry. He told Perry that he wanted to make a fight between him and middleweight champion David Mundell, who had stormed into the ring to go after him. Mundell had left the ring and was upset. McGregor walked over and convinced Mundell to come into the ring for what turned into a heated staredown with Perry.
Earlier in the show, the founder of BKFC and co-owner, Dave Feldman had said Mundell would be moving up in weight to face light heavyweight champion Josh Dyer on November 15.
