Canelo Alvarez is on course to become undisputed super-middleweight champion for a second time when he returns to action this weekend, live on DAZN .
The Nebraska man has long made it clear that he is eager to challenge Canelo and he will become only the third man to beat him if he can somehow come up with a plan to get past him.
One of those fighters who did manager to dominate Canelo was Floyd Mayweather when he produced a masterclass in 2013 to become the first person to defeat Canelo.
Mayweather walked away from boxing in 2015 before the returning to face Conor McGregor two years later, so a rematch between the pair never materialised.
Despite their first meeting being 12 years ago, Canelo has not let the matter go and although he has gone onto achieve monumental things in boxing, a rematch with Mayweather is not one of them.
With Mayweather now restricted to the exhibiotion circuit, it appears unikley that him and Canelo would ever cross paths again, but that has not prevented Canelo from wanting to settle the series with his great rival.
“Yes, of course. I would love the opportunity to get revenge,” said Canelo when speaking to DAZN .
Obviously, we know it’s not going to happen but yes, I would love to get rid of that little thorn.”
