Claressa Shields and Lauren Price have confirmed that they will fight before the end of 2026.
Shields was ringside on Saturday night for Price's successful unified welterweight title defence in Cardiff.
Price overcame Stephanie Pineiro in a bloody 10-round battle which the former won by unanimous decision.
Ever since she turned pro in 2022 after winning gold at the Tokyo Olympics, big things have been expected of Price and just 10 fights into her career, she could find herself facing the self proclaimed 'GWOAT' in the near future.
Sharing the ring with Price after her win, Shields revealed that she needs to have one more fight before facing Price at the end of the year.
"When you are an Olympic champion you are a special fighter," Shields said.
"Me and you have talked online and me and you can make it happen, you did great tonight.
"No disrespect to you, you've got a little bit of time. I've got one more fight and then we can fight at the end of the year."
Price also revelled in the prospect of facing Shields and is hoping to take on the American in both the States and Wales.
"I want the biggest fights in boxing, and what a great honour it would be to share the ring with Shields," said Price.
"It makes for a great fight, but not just one fight. I said to her tonight, 'Let's do it, I'll come to America and then you come to Wales,' and she shook on it. So hopefully we can make that happen."
There is no doubt Shields is a trailblazer in women's boxing.
Winning world titles across five divisions, it's no surprise that she describes herself as the self proclaimed 'GWOAT', but since facing Savannah Marshall in 2022, Shields has not been subject to a proper test.
Shields has dealt with her last five opponents with ease, and with an established fanbase in Michigan, it's crying out for Shields to face someone who will bring the best out in her.
Price could be that. Her win against Pineiro proved last night she is not fazed by what comes her way, even if she is covered in blood from a clash of heads.
The pair have respect for each other, and it's no surprise with both Price and Shields winning Olympic golds.
However, if a fight is made, Shields will look to stick it on Price both in and outside the ring, and then we'll see whether the Welsh boxer has what it takes to be a face of women's boxing.
