Conor Benn is hopeful Ryan Garcia will agree terms to a WBC welterweight title bout, adding he has "a lot to prove" to himself.
The Briton made a winning start to life with Zuffa earlier this year with a handy victory over Regis Prograis in a catchweight fight.
Garcia teased that a deal was close in a prior appearance on television after securing the strap against Mario Barrios in February.
Speaking at a Zuffa event on Friday though, his likely opponent confirmed no contracts have been signed yet, though he is itching to go.
“I’ve made no secret [I want to] fight for the WBC world title,” Benn was quoted by The Ring. “It’s the belt that my dad won.
"It would be a dream for me to get that belt. The person’s doing a lot of talking, as he does. Hopefully, he signs the contract.
“I got a lot to prove in this fight, not just to everyone else, but to myself. I'm going to come out fast and put it on him.
"I'm going to go into this fight fueled with a chip on my shoulder to prove to the world that I will be the greatest WBC champion."
It appears that Conor Benn may just about be over the line in his pursuit of welterweight gold - but where he will fight is another matter.
When he was with Matchroom and Eddie Hearn, the latter was touting stadium options for one of his prize assets, before a messy break-up.
Zuffa are hoping to make in-roads onto British soil themselves too - but ultimately, as champion, Ryan Garcia will have the bigger say.
Having earned his stripes in Las Vegas, 'Flash' may favour a return there, or perhaps a homecoming encounter in California instead.
Then there is Madison Square Garden and the famed New York City venue's iconography. Both men would surely relish a clash there.
