Daniel Dubois vows to 'shock' Oleksandr Usyk and deliver another magical Wembley night

Daniel Dubois has vowed to shine at Wembley once again to beat Oleksandr Usyk and become the undisputed heavyweight champion on July 19.

Dubois, 24-2 (21), will be bidding for revenge when he faces Usyk, 23-0 (14), two years after being stopped by the Ukrainian in Poland.

This time, the Brit will have home advantage and he has fond memories of Wembley after knocking out Anthony Joshua at the same venue 10 months ago. The 27-year-old has now insisted he will use that night as inspiration to topple Usyk.

Speaking to former world champion Carl Frampton for DAZN, Dubois said: “To have the whole crowd (behind me), and this is where I did it the last time. I know I can do it again.”

Usyk outclassed Dubois in 2023 before stopping him in the ninth round, but Dubois remains adamant he was denied a knockout victory himself after he sent his rival to the canvas in the fifth round.

The attempted body shot was ruled a low blow and Usyk was given almost five minutes to recover by the referee before the bout resumed.

Dubois is determined to exploit Usyk’s potential weakness to the body in their rematch, and has claimed he will not stop until he gets his hand raised.

Dubois added: “He’s been down a few times with body shots. This time I’ve got to throw the kitchen sink at him and land everywhere.”

Since losing to Usyk, Dubois has won three straight fights against Jarell Miller, Filip Hrgovic and Joshua, picking up the IBF world title along the way.

He is convinced he has vastly improved after falling short against Usyk last time, and expects to cause a major shock when their paths cross again at Wembley.

Predicting how the rematch will play out, Dubois explained: “I think it’s going to be totally different. If the people are thinking it’s going to be the same thing then they’re in for a shock, even their team.

“I’m trusting myself better as a fighter so I can’t wait to get in there.”
