David Benavidez (30-0, 24 KOs) overwhelmed David Morrell Jr. (11-1, 9 KOs) with high volume punching output toward a unanimous decision victory at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, and live on pay-per-view, Saturday night. Judges scored it 115-111, 115-111 and 118-108 all in Benavidez's favor.

With the victory, Benavidez becomes a unified interim WBC and WBA "Regular" light heavyweight world champion, and the mandatory challenger to the winner of the February 22 rematch between undisputed 175-pound ruler Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol.

Morrell is letting his hands go, but Benavidez stands firm and unleashes fire of his own. An uppercut lands for Benavidez. There's 90 seconds left. One minute remaining as the two continues to throw punches. They've thrown over 1,000 combined punches. The animosity dies at the bell with the fighters embracing after 36 minutes of action. (10-9 Benavidez, 117-109 Benavidez)

Benavidez vs. Morrell; Round 11

Morrell is having some success with counters, opening up his own punching flow with Benavidez's back to the ropes. Benavidez invites more punch output from Morrell who's having a good round. A right hand in traffic lands for Morrell and Benavidez hits the canvas! Benavidez is up on his feet and takes it to Morrell with steady punching during the waning seconds but Morrell stuns him with a late right hand after the bell. That prompts the referee to dock Morrell a point, negating his knockdown. (9-8 Morrell, 107-100 Benavidez)

Benavidez vs. Morrell; Round 10

Benavidez's stand-up pressure and his ability to just chip and erode away at his opponents is a very tough thing to overcome. Morrell, with much less experience, is finding that out today. Adding to his frustration, Benavidez breaks out a little shuffle during the final ticks of this round. (10-9 Benavidez, 99-91 Benavidez)

Benavidez is teeing off on Morrell with headshots defended well, but left and right uppercuts that split the guard. Morrell fires back but nothing as impactful as Benavidez's output which has been the dilemma for the Cuban across this fight. Pretty soon, Morrell is going to need to detonate that one-punch knockout power. He lands a solid counter right hook during the waning seconds, but it's not enough to grab the round. (10-9 Benavidez, 89-82 Benavidez)

Benavidez with a right but Morrell responds with a counter left. Morrell with a stinging counter left once again but he's standing upright with Benavidez, right in the Mexican Monster's wheelhouse. Morrell delivers a good round but Benavidez's pressure is too much to overcome for him. (10-9 Benavidez, 79-73 Benavidez)

They've thrown an identical amount of punches through six rounds, giving an indication of the breakneck action. Morrell is landing plenty of shots. It's just in this ebb and flow, Benavidez's offerings are greater in their give and take, especially with his uppercuts. Another round for Benavidez who continues to pressure. The ebb and flow of this fight has been great, but Benavidez is getting the better of this give and take pretty consistently. Benavidez wraps a right hook around the guard, before unleashing a vicious left uppercut through the guard. That might have been Benavidez's best punch of the fight. A small cut on Benavidez's left eyebrow gets tended to between rounds. It might have come from a headbutt. A big left hook from Morrell is responded with fire from Benavidez. This is an all-action fight thus far. They're exchanging right in the center of the ring with Benavidez getting the better of the heat with uppercuts. Morrell with a big counterpunch inside cramped quarters but it doesn't stop Benavidez from continuing his high output. What great action.
