Francisco Rodriguez breaks incredible record as he defeats Olympic gold medal winner

Francisco Rodriguez ruined Galal Yafai’s world title ambitions with a ruthless display that saw him set a relentless pace from the outset. 

The Mexican arrived in Birmingham with a reputation for being a ferocious fighter, and he enhanced that profile as he dominated Yafai on the scorecards after dropping him in the final session. 

In the process, Rodriguez also broke a longstanding record as the 575 punches he landed on Yafai is a record for a 12-round flyweight fight. 

The previous record was set in 2013 when Giovani Segura connected with 474 shots meaning that Rodriguez shattered that number.
