George Kambosos claims win over pound-for-pound star would put him 'into the Hall of Fame'

George Kambosos claims win over pound-for-pound star would put him 'into the Hall of Fame'Top rank
The Australian is in action later this year.

George Kambosos believes his upcoming fight against Vasiliy Lomachenko for the IBF lightweight title will have major implications for his legacy.

In 2021, Kambosos was the undisputed champion at lightweight after a shock split decision over Teofimo Lopez.

However, his reign ended the following year when he lost to Devin Haney twice, but Kambosos bounced back with a points win over Maxi Hughes last July.

Now he is preparing to face a pound-for-pound great in Lomachenko on May 12 in Perth, Australia, and Kambosos believes a win over the Ukrainian will cement his legacy and possibly earn him a spot in the Boxing Hall of Fame.

“This victory cements my legacy, this puts me into the Hall of Fame. Kambosos versus Lomachenko," Kambosos said in an interview with Top Rank

"This is about legacy, this is about two warriors trying to prove something to each other and to the boxing world, right here in Australia. Two legends, It doesn’t get any bigger."

Lomachenko has something in common with his opponent on May 12, he too lost to Devin Haney when the pair met for the undisputed lightweight title last year.
