Harlem Eubank has promised a career-defining performance against Jack Catterall, and says it is "the opportunity" he has trained for since he entered boxing.

The star, part of the Eubank dynasty, will look to carry on his superlative career with an acid test performance against the former light welterweight title challenger.

Catterall, one of the country's most popular lower-division fighters, is looking to rebuild at Manchester's AO Arena after a loss to Arnold Barboza Jr. in February.

At a good-natured press conference on Tuesday filled with respect for each other though, Eubank stressed a victory here can cement credentials as a genuine contender.

"This is the opportunity I've been training for since I came into the sport," he said. "I came in because I want to become world champion, and Jack is a world-class operator.

"He's proven it time and time again, and now is my opportunity to go in there and show people I'm ready to win a world title.

"Jack is the type of fighter I need to overcome to fulfil my ambitions in the sport. We're prepared, we're ready.

"We know how good Jack is, but this fight isn't about how good Jack is, it's about how good I am, and I'm ready to show the world.

"We're going to see the best version of Jack Catterall in there and that's the man I'm ready to overcome. I've heard a lot that they don't know how good I am.

"Every time I step up, it brings the best out of me and this will be no different. We know how good he is, but I'm ready to show the world how good I am, and that's what we'll see."
