Jack Catterall needed a win in the worst way on Saturday when he locked horns against Harlem Eubank from the AO Arena in Manchester, England, live on DAZN. It wasn't how Catterall (31-2, 13 KOs) designed it, but a win is a win as he defeated Eubank via technical decision after the doctor stopped the fight before the seventh round began.
With about 30 seconds left in the sixth round, Catterall and Eubank, in what had been a physical affair up to that point, went at each other in the middle of the ring and clashed heads. Eubank suffered a slight cut, and Catterall was gushing blood over his right eye.
From the looks of things, it appeared Catterall's cutman had stopped the cut. The referee and ringside doctor looked to have said Catterall was set to continue on. Both Catterall and Eubank were in their respective corners and ready to fight as the referee was talking to the ringside doctor. Then, all of a sudden, the referee stopped the fight, much to the dismay of the Manchester crowd. Due to the fight being stopped after the fourth round due to an accidental headbutt, it went to the judges scorecards.
