Jai Opetaia overcomes Claudio Squeo in dominant performance

Jai Opetaia has successfully retained his IBF and Ring cruiserweight titles after stopping Claudio Squeo in the fifth round of their contest in Broadbeach.

While Squeo was on the front foot, it did not take long for Opetaia to work out his challenger and increase the pressure in each passing round. 

With Opetaia landing punches aplenty, the final blow came in the fifth round with a right hand which broke Squeo's jaw who then took a knee. 

The Italian failed to meet the referee's count and Opetaia was declared the winner who yet again called for a unification clash with WBA and WBO champion Gilberto 'Zurdo' Ramirez.
